Quiz Nonviolence in Daily Life

Integrate nonviolence into your daily life.

NONVIOLENCE TOWARDS NATURE

Explanation to Question 14:
Did you know that vinegar is an excellent all-purpose cleaner? Or that there are many non-toxic alternatives to shampoo, body wash, laundry detergent, etc. You could replace one or more products you use in your household with a natural non-toxic alternative. This also means fewer toxic substances end up in our drinking water, rivers and oceans.

Try to buy less and take your used clothes to a collection point or a second-hand store. Nowadays you can even ‘rent’ regular clothes. Or organize a clothes swap with your friends or neighbors. And do you actually know where your clothes come from? Sometimes there is a lot of exploitation in the production of a garment. Maybe you could also experiment with making your own clothes. Start with a simple knitted scarf.

For all questions in this section, the following applies: “Think global, act local”. Become part of the local economy. Gandhi called this “Swadeshi”. Local economies are an important instrument to facilitate the process of economic growth. To counter globalization somewhat, you can find out whether there are local cooperatives in your area, or other local producers.
