A Picture for Peace

During my exhange in South Africa, a proud Afrikaner friend showed me the town she was born in; Philippolis, once a thriving Afrikaner town, now suffering from neglect and abandonment.

Unfortunately, racism profits from these types of situations, and this reflects on the community. However, when these children passed the street on their way back from school, the whole town smiled again. They were singing and clapping, and shining right in front of my camera. At that very moment I sincerely realised that it is youth that can actually push South-Africa, a country that has all it takes to succeed, towards a peaceful future.
